30.8.2010 Vilant Systems named as finalist for 2010 Bully Award

Vilant Systems was named as a finalist for the inaugural 2010 Bully Award honouring the leading European technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) companies as presented by White Bull Summits. A total of sixty European companies were named as finalists for the 2010 Bully Award. The deserving finalists were selected from a pool of entries that included hundreds of nominated European TMT companies.

4.6.2010 Würth updates its RFID System

The Finnish tools and equipment supplier, Würth Oy, has been one of the early birds in the field of RFID as they introduced their first RFID system in Finland already in 1995. Automating their picking line with RFID has brought Würth tremendous savings along the years thanks to error reduction, savings in labor costs and more efficient collection process. Vilant Systems provided Wurth with an updated UHF Gen2 based RFID system.

1.6.2010 Paper roll tagging - More efficient paper industry of the future

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solutions are rapidly replacing bar-code technology for identification of different products and assets. In the paper industry, RFID can yield benefits when paper rolls are tagged and automatically identified from the manufacturing phase to the entire supply chain life-cycle.

Until now the challenge of RFID has been reading tag ID by radio waves through paper. Thanks to the new RFID tags that can be read from a distance of 1-2 meters and from any direction, this is no longer the case.

Together with Metso, Core Link and UPM Raflatac, Vilant has produced a white paper presenting the benefits of RFID in paper industry.

31.5.2010 Vilant launches Device Manager 5.5

Vilant Device Manager (DM) is a software component enabling the control of large amount of RFID readers by single software.The updated version of Device Manager is the DM 5.5, which makes the software use and maintenance easier than before.

For example an audit log helps to monitor and control what has been done and thus detecting operational errors and correcting them becomes easier.  DM 5.5 has enhanced filtering capability and faster user interface than its predecessors. It also improves reader agnostics as it handles more readers than the previous versions.

16.2.2010 Martela identifies furniture with RFID

Martela has launched a system that improves the speed and accuracy of office furniture inventory take at customer sites significantly. The system is based on RFID tags that are attached to furniture. Space is inventoried with handheld RFID readers that pick up tagged furniture efficiently also from longer distances. The system improves the design and planning process of office upgrades or moving. It also improves inventory accuracy for book keeping.

1.9.2009 RFID speeds up Plandent's supply chain
Finnish dental consumable supplier Plandent has implemented and RFID-based shelf replenishment system for its customers' dental supply storages. The system enables real-time replenishment orders based on material consumption at dental practises. The system helps preventing material shortages and manual mistakes as it reduces manual inventory and ordering work. It also reduces staff's time used in the administrative work and thus releases more time for the essential clinical work. The full case study.
   
12.6.2009 Valtra automates material flows with RFID
Valtra has automated the material supply process and material buffer management at its Suolahti tractor manufacturing plant. The RFID system triggers replenishment orders based on material consumption movements directly to the suppliers. This ranking of the most innovative European SMEs draws on a survey published by the Deloitte firm, the Technology Fast 500. Commerce International has singled out 50 companies from the list and classified them according to its own criteria: the degree of innovation, the weight of a company on its market and the interest value of its products and services.

23.3.2009 Vilant Systems selected as finalist for the Red Herring 100 Europe 2009

Red Herring today announced that Vilant Systems was named a Finalist of Red Herring 100 Europe, an award given to the top 100 private technology companies based in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region each year. 17.3.2009 Vilant Systems launches In-Factory Reader system

Customers in electronics, industrial goods and machinery industries have had a demand for networked single read points that can be placed to conveyors, production machines or in production cells.

The Vilant In Factory Reader System enables the use of same readers (or even read points) for several applications. It also allows visual signaling and local automation integration with I/O at single antenna units. This allows to cut costs and increase the versatility of the RFID reader system.

1.3.2009 Vilant nominated as one of the five finalists in Logica Finland's Innovation Partner competition

Vilant has been nominated as one of the five finalists in Logica Finland's  innovation partner competition. Logica is a leading integrator with presence in 36 countries. 60 innovative companies participated so being among the finalists is already an accomplishment.
